Interesting education side note: When I was a newspaper editor, I once taught a class of high school journalists at a student journalism conference. My main piece of advice for them was: “Go to bars and drink with people. It’s where you get the best story ideas.”

SpongeBob impairs little kids’ thinking: Watching a few minutes of a show about an “animated sponge that lives under the sea” impaired 4-year-olds’ executive function, University of Virginia researchers found. The executive function includes attention, working memory, problem solving and delay of gratification that are associated with success in school.
