There are some discoveries you make about your toddler that affect you in immeasurable ways. Getting to see your child’s personality form in subtle incremental ways, each marked by an innocent smile or laugh, bring a sense of indescribable joy and amazement to moms and dads. Last night, I witnessed one of those incremental changes as my boys revealed something new about themselves and my life got a little bit brighter than it was before.
My boys love The Ramones.
We linked together a bunch of track pieces from different sets and made the most awesome Hot Wheels stunt ramp that has ever existed in the history of everything. The cars weren’t getting much air, but they got some serious distance. And the heavier ones plopped straight into that blue bucket, so there were points involved, too. I had to disassemble the track to get the guys to go brush their teeth, but I can’t wait to set it up again tomorrow. (See that little white blur just before the Slinky tunnel? That’s a car going SO SUPER FAST, YOU GUYS!)
If this had existed in my neighborhood as a kid, I would’ve spent most of my days on it reenacting the launch sequence from the original Battlestar Galactica series instead of riding my bike and dangerously crisscrossing paths with my friends as we reenacted the light cycle scene from Tron.
In my house, Morphine’s Cure For Pain…
Heavy. Fucking. Rotation.
Do yourself a favor. Watch and/or listen.
Not really about parenting other than the fact that this album is my mental escape from handling human turds. Dog turds, too.
Not the best movie ever, but damn close.
Just sayin’.
Nothing to do with parenting.
Do you remember that $11 Hopscotch kit I found at the store earlier this week? Well, I thought of something else I can sell for the holidays this year. It’s my Rock Paper Scissors Kit.
$100?
Behold the innovation, people. BASK IN ITS GLORY! BASK, I SAY!
A bargain at twice the price.
Womanthology: Heroic For Preorder On Amazon
For those who want to purchase Womanthology: Heroic but don’t have a comic book store nearby, it’s also available for preorder through Amazon. But support your local comic retailer if you can!
My coworker is a contributor to this project. I once wrote that it’s great for any parents of daughters who are into comics and she just told me the publication is all-ages. So, unless you’re not really into really fucking awesome stuff, go buy it.
