Two For One Special
I wrote before that Boone looks like he inherited my thick curly/wavy hair. It’s finally starting to fill in and, because of his round baby face, he looks like a midget version of Popeye Doyle from The French Connection.
We went to a brunch thing at our friend’s house on Sunday. The event was billed as “Babies Who Brunch” but, to be honest, I didn’t see many babies actually brunching… if that’s even a verb.
It was nice to meet other parents, most of whom had babies under 12-months-old. A couple of them had babies so young, the parents still had a look on their face that said, “I don’t know where I am because I haven’t slept in three months. I’m not even sure if I’m wearing pants.”
We had the only set of twins, however, and I think the other parents were kind-of relieved. Sure, they were exhausted to the bone and achy and frazzled, but at least they only had one baby. Not two like that unfortunate couple over there.
The irony is parents of multiples apparently have it easier as the children get older because of the simple fact that the babies begin to play with each other and don’t need constant attention and distraction from mom or dad. It’s like we gave birth to our own play group.
One parent asked us what it was like raising twins. I told her it was incredibly challenging, but it was also a blast. “Plus,” I added, “doesn’t Boone look like Popeye Doyle?”
