The Daddy Complex

High-res Aside from a decades-long flirtation with the subject, comic books have definitely taken more room on my radar screen since I wrote a graphic novel and my coworker became involved in Womanthology. Of course, this is a parenting blog, so I don’t cover comics here. This is until I was told about H.O.P.E.: Tales Of The Nuclear Family.
The comic books tell the story of a small group — two adults and three kids — who form a multicultural family and struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. In addition to family themes, it’s got mutants, sci-fi weaponry, action, adventure… all it needs now is you.
The project is on Kickstarter and writer/creator (and father) Raymond Ayala and his team are less than a month away from the deadline to to raise the needed funds to finish the two issues. Maybe it’s because I’m a father, but just the few pages Raymond sent me to check out totally kick ass.
Go to the Kickstarter page for more info and a video. And if you dig indie comics (or just want to see a badass mom kicking mutants in the face), help out.
